Dr Bikram Karmakar is a Specialist Sport & Exercise Physician with a clinical focus on musculoskeletal medicine, rehabilitation, lifestyle medicine and movement-based healthcare.

His approach centres on helping people recover from injury, stay active and maintain long-term health and function across all stages of life — from active older adults and recreational exercisers through to elite athletes.

Dr Karmakar combines specialist Sports & Exercise Medicine with Lifestyle Medicine principles, recognising the important role movement, exercise, recovery, sleep and long-term health behaviours play in overall wellbeing and quality of life.

He believes movement plays a fundamental role in physical health, mental wellbeing and independence. His practice combines evidence-based medicine with exercise, rehabilitation and lifestyle-focused strategies to help patients move with greater confidence and maintain participation in the activities that matter to them.

Drawing on experience across elite sport, clinical medicine, education and public health, he takes an active and collaborative approach to care, integrating accurate diagnosis, patient education and long-term management strategies.

“Good musculoskeletal care should aim make movement easier, not restrict it.”
